What is Red Light Therapy?

Red Light Therapy (RLT) works by acting on the “power plant” in your body’s cells called mitochondria. With more energy, other cells can do their work more efficiently, such as repairing skin, boosting new cell growth and enhancing skin rejuvenation. More specifically, certain cells absorb light wavelengths and are stimulated to work. Red light therapy is a treatment that helps the skin, muscle tissue, and other parts of your body heal. It exposes you to low levels of red or near-infrared light. Infrared light is a type of energy your eyes can’t see, but your body can feel as heat. It’s not the same type of light used in tanning booths, and it doesn’t expose your skin to damaging UV rays.
